Like many adults, I had braces back when I was a teenager. Having a mouth full of metal wasn't very fun, but it was necessary to straighten my teeth and correct a bad overbite. I wore the braces for a few years and thought, like many others, that I'd have straight teeth for the rest of my life.

Imagine my surprise when, in my late thirties, my dentist told me I needed braces — again! As I aged, my teeth had moved and I was in danger of losing at least one of them due to overcrowding. The tooth in question had to be removed (not desirable) or pushed back into place with braces. So off I went to see an orthodontist to get fitted for braces as an adult.

What you'll find here is based my own research and experiences with braces for adults.
